Communicating with the public and partners
Communications to the public and other stakeholders are a vital part of our counter-terrorism work.
The Research, Information and Communications Unit (RICU) manages the government’s communications on its counter-terrorism strategy (CONTEST) find out more about RICU.
Effective communication
RICU ensure that the government communicates effectively and consistently to reduce the risk of terrorism, by:
- advising CONTEST partners on their counter-terrorism communications
- exposing the weaknesses of violent extremist ideologies and brands
- supporting credible alternatives to violent extremism using communications
Central to this is working closely with partners across government, and with local and regional authorities and community networks. RICU supports all four workstreams of CONTEST – Pursue, Prevent, Protect and Prepare.
