The functions of the MHS Board, a sub-committee of the FSA Board, are to give strategic direction to the MHS within the overall strategy agreed by the FSA Board; and to set appropriate targets for the MHS and monitor its performance and hold it to account on behalf of the FSA Board.

The end of butchers' shop licensing archive
Butchers' shop licensing is being withdrawn across the UK from the end of 2005. From 1 January 2006, all retail butchers will be subject to the new EC hygiene regulations that apply to all other retail and catering businesses.
