Food hygiene laws consultation launched
Monday 11 October 2004
A major consultation on applying European Union food hygiene legislation in the UK starts today.
The Food Standards Agency in all four UK nations is launching 16-week consultations to enable people to comment on the proposed changes to the rules that make up UK food hygiene law and the guidance that supports them.
The aim is to put in place a more streamlined set of rules that clarify who is responsible for what and that are more user-friendly than previously.
You have until 31 January 2005 to respond to the consultations and details of how to do this are included in each nations individual set of consultation documents. The Agency will consider carefully all views and comments put forward. The new regulations will come into force on 1 January 2006.
