Aflatoxins survey published
Monday 21 March 2005
The Agency has published a survey of aflatoxins and ochratoxin A in spices.
A total of 61 samples of spices, including chilli powder and cayenne pepper, were collected from a wide cross-section of warehouses, packing establishments, supermarkets and smaller shops.
The survey found that the majority of products tested had levels of aflatoxins below the legal limits. Currently there is not a legal limit for ochratoxin A.
This page was amended on 22 March 2005 as an earlier version incorrectly stated there was a legal limit for ochratoxin A.
