Waitrose withdraws flapjacks
Wednesday 30 November 2005
Waitrose has withdrawn its own-brand Traybake Fruity Flapjacks and Traybake Butter Flapjacks because of contamination with metal fragments.
The Food Standards Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.
The affected products are:
- Waitrose own-brand Traybake Fruity Flapjacks
Best before 9, 13 and 16 February - Waitrose own-brand Traybake Butter Flapjacks
Best before 9, 13 and 16 February
As a precautionary measure, Waitrose has withdrawn these two varieties of flapjacks from sale. Point-of-sale notices have been displayed in all stores to alert customers to the withdrawal. Consumers who have bought the affected flapjacks can return them to Waitrose for a refund.
Food alerts
Food alerts are the FSA's way of letting local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, providing details of specific action to be taken.
They are issued under two categories:
- Food Alerts: for Action
- Food Alerts: for Information
