Consultation details
Codex is an FAO/WHO funded organisation that discusses worldwide standards for food commodities and the next meeting of its Committee on Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (CCFFV) will take place in Mexico City from the 8-12 September 2003.
Codex Standards are becoming increasing important in world trade and as a basis of resolving disputes in the WTO. They cover both safety and quality. This year DEFRA's Horticultural Marketing Inspectorate will be representing the UK at the meeting.
A provisional agenda is attached as a link to the Codex website.
If you do have any comments you wish to make I would be grateful if you could respond directly by 28 August 2003 either by e-mail or in writing to the address listed.
As with all Codex meetings the Agency tries to hold a meeting with interested parties to discuss the issues and assist us in determining the UK's line for the forthcoming Codex meeting.
We propose to hold this meeting on 3 September 2003 at 9:30 am in Room 131 at the Agency's London HQ, Aviation House, 125 Kingsway, London WC2B 6NH.
Any comment you wish to make will be forwarded to this meeting. If you would like to attend in person please contact the address given below by 28 August 2003 as there are limited spaces available.
