15th Meeting of the Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals, 15 March 2002

The Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals held its 15th meeting on the 15 March 2002. The following items were discussed:

(1) Minutes of the previous meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed. Copies of these minutes are available from the Secretariat or on the Expert Group page of the Food Standards Agency website (www.food.gov.uk).

(2) Risk Assessments

The Group considered revised reviews and risk assessments for the following nutrients:

Thiamin
Niacin
Vitamin B6
Calcium
Iron
Vitamin A

(3) Draft final report

The Group discussed the structure and content of the final report. Members have now had the opportunity to comment twice on the introduction to the final report. To ensure consistency, it was agreed that a drafting group comprising 4 to 6 people should be set up to consider the risk assessments and the supporting chapters of the final report, prior to releasing for public consultation.

(4) Date of next meeting

Although the timescales have not yet been finalised, the Group envisaged it would be necessary to arrange a meeting to discuss results of the consultation before the preparation of the final report. Date and venue to be decided.
