Three new FSA Board Members appointed

The Minister of State for Health, Dawn Primarolo has appointed three new Food Standards Agency (FSA) board members after consultation with health ministers for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The three new board members are Professor Sue Atkinson CBE, Margaret Gilmore and Clive Grundy . Professor Atkinson is a senior executive and public health doctor with wide experience of policy development and implementation experience. Until recently, she was regional director of public health for London and health advisor to the Mayor and Greater London Authority. Margaret Gilmore is a freelance writer, broadcaster and analyst whose previous roles at the BBC include senior home affairs correspondent and award winning work as an environment and agriculture correspondent. Clive Grundy is a senior manager whose thirty year career has included important roles at companies such as Grand Metropolitan and Compass Group.
The FSA Chair Deirdre Hutton, welcoming the appointments said: 'I am delighted Sue, Margaret and Clive have joined the Board. They bring a wealth of experience with them which I am sure will prove invaluable. I am very much looking forward to working with them.'
The appointments of Clive Grundy and Professor Sue Atkinson CBE will come into effect from 1 February 2008, and Margaret Gilmore from the 1 March 2008. They have been made in accordance with the guidance issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA).
Professor Sue Atkinson CBE
Professor Sue Atkinson CBE works as an independent consultant and holds a visiting professorship in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Heath, University College London. She holds a number of public positions which include: Non-executive board member of University College Hospitals London NHS Foundation Trust, Chair of the Greater London Alcohol and Drug Alliance and Board member of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Sue qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and has extensive experience within the NHS and as a senior civil servant in the Department of Health. She was responsible for the health aspects of the Olympic and Paralympic 2012 successful London bid and was awarded a CBE for her innovative contributions to health and health services, in 2002.
Margaret Gilmore
Margaret Gilmore is an associate fellow with the security think tank RUSI (Royal United Services Institute) where she lectures and writes on Homeland Security. She continues to write and broadcast, and advises private and public sector organisations on security-related issues.
Margaret spent 19 years at the BBC and until 2007 was the senior home affairs correspondent for BBC Television news, specialising in homeland security, civil contingencies, immigration and policing and covered stories such as the July 7th bombings. Before that, she was environment and agriculture correspondent and won the top environment award for her authoritative work on the BSE and vCJD crisis, genetically modified crops, fish stocks and global warming.
Margaret has also spent time as a correspondent for the BBC's 'Panorama' and 'Newsnight' and ITV’s 'This Week'.
Margaret is married to an independent, current affairs television producer.
Clive Grundy
Clive Grundy currently works for CPS, a private company that provides executive support and leadership development opportunities for senior management.
He has held a number of senior management positions in the manufacturing and service sectors. He was human resources director on the plc Board at Compass where he was responsible for board level strategy design, food safety health and hygiene, corporate responsibility and human resources.
Clive has won awards for his human resources policies, procedures and practices and in 2004 was awarded an honorary doctorate in business management for his internationally recognised workplace learning and development initiatives.
