List of Official Food Control Laboratories in the UK
Within each country laboratories are sub-divided according to whether chemical analysis and/or microbiological examination are carried out in the laboratory. Where a laboratory undertakes both types of work it is listed in both sections. The European Commission is notified of the list under Council Directive 93/99/EEC.
National Reference Laboratories
The UK National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) network is responsible for setting up EU-wide standards for routine procedures and reliable testing methods in the areas of feed and food and animal health. Core functions of the appointed UK NRLs are effectively those cited in Article 33 of the EC Regulation 882/2004 (see link below).
