The Authority's strengths
Service Plan - The Authority has produced a Food Service Plan, which meets the requirements of The Standard.
Food Premises Database - A check on the accuracy of the database showed that 15 out of 15 food business addresses randomly selected had been entered on to the database, although one record had not been updated with details of the new proprietor. The database is currently being upgraded.
Food Safety Promotion - The Authority actively promotes food safety.
Equipment - The Authority has made available all necessary equipment to permit all activities associated with the service to be carried out.
Follow-Up Action to Year 1 Non-Conformances - These have been completed within the specified timescale and the audit file formally closed.
Key areas for improvement
Food Standards Inspections - In general, reports sent to proprietors following inspections meet the requirements of Code of Practice No 8, however they are not always issued within the Authority's specified timescale.
Policies and Procedures - Although the Authority's internal policies and procedures are comprehensive, some now require reviewing and updating.
Records - In some cases, information in premises files contained incomplete information.
