Scores on the Doors in Northern Ireland
Monday 6 June 2011
In Northern Ireland some District Councils are currently operating 'scores on the doors' schemes. These schemes are not part of the Food Standards Agency's national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme run in Northern Ireland, England and Wales, or the Food Hygiene Information Scheme in Scotland.
These two District Councils are running 'local' scores on the doors schemes:
Seventeen District Councils in Northern Ireland have implemented the FSA's Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, and more District Councils are planning to join in the future.

Eat Safe Award
The Eat Safe award scheme was launched in Northern Ireland in 2003. The single tier award is made to catering establishments who can demonstrate achievements of standards beyond compliance. Awards are issued at the discretion of the Council following an assessment during a programmed food hygiene inspection. Further information on the scheme and details of who has been given the award can be found at the link below.
